Chinese Thanksgiving Recipes
The U.S.Thanksgiving holiday is right around the corner and as always it comes with the usual turkey dinner served with sides of stuffing, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, roasted brussel sprouts, and cranberry sauce, as well as many other traditional dishes. This year, why not give your Thanksgiving feast a twist by trying one of these Chinese recipes in place of the traditional dishes. Here are some fun Chinese Thanksgiving recipes to try.

Chinese Thanksgiving Turkey
To make a Chinese inspired turkey simply use a soy sauce brine like the one found on Kikkoman's site at https://www.kikkomanusa.com/brine and then prepare and cook the turkey as usual. Here is a link to my video on how to make the turkey https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgT80XPnHD0. If you want to experiment even further you can use five spice powder along with the butter and some honey to baste the turkey instead of using the traditional poultry seasoning.

Stuffing
A vegetable fried rice or mushroom fried rice dish is the perfect substitute for the traditional stuffing that is normally served. Here is a mushroom fried rice recipe, and here is a delicious vegetable fried rice recipe that can be used. To put a light Chinese twist on traditional stuffing, simply use garlic, ginger and green onion in place of the traditional spices (rosemary and thyme) when making the stuffing.

Green Bean Casserole
Here is the perfect Chinese green bean side dish to replace the traditional casserole. This recipe tosses green beans and with slivered almonds, garlic, and ginger.

Sweet Potato Casserole
This is the easiest Thanksgiving dish to put a Chinese twist on. Simply cook the traditional version, but add a little five spice powder to give it an extra punch of flavor.

Cranberry Sauce
To give cranberry sauce a Chinese flavor I sometimes add a little fresh chopped ginger and star anise to the mix. If you are using a pre made cranberry sauce, you can simply sprinkle it with a little five spice powder.

These are just a few suggestions on how to add some Chinese flavors into your traditional Thanksgiving meal. There are so many other ways to be creative and experiment with traditional Thanksgiving recipes. Happy Holidays and enjoy!
